Once upon a time the goal of education was to indoctrinate the individual into the prevalent belief of who a US citizen was AND to train the people to be effective FACTORY LINE WORKERS.
Contrary to this academic belief system is the US has a long history of innovation, inventiveness and creative boundary pushing. Since the mid 1900's we, as populace, are no longer a country of factories but one of creators, designers, service providers, and entrepreneurs. With the generalized access to the internet the human race has access to all the known resources of our creation BUT now we need to learn HOW to put these resources and information into action. One way to address this is by having an education/community space for encouraging making, designing, engineering, and creating. This environment is a way to foster the skills students will need for the careers, jobs, services and lives that have yet to be defined or dreamed of. |
