Northridge Quake 1994 Jan 17th at 4:30 am I have experienced other quakes but this one was memorable. First off my dog, Gunner, suddenly jumped up on the bed and curled up right next to me. He woke me enough for me to register that it was strange for him to be up on the bed. Shortly after that the room/house was rumbling. Like many Cali folks I rolled over thinking "By the time I get out of bed and to the door frame, the thing will be over" then I heard things breaking downstairs! Needless to say I did get out of bed, did not resume sleeping that night, and spent the following day surveying damage to my house (very little) and my work (knocked the portable clean off the foundation). I expierenced an earthquake about a year ago or so it was about 7pm on a school night that it had occurred. I was taking a shower like any other normal day until i felt a shake it wasn't really strong but it was strong enough to make me fall in the shower and shut down the power in the whole neighbor hood it lasted for about 3 minutes and then it went away like if nothing had ever happened the earthquake didn't cause much damage(thank god) it gave people a good scare though and so far that has been one of the only earthquakes I've ever felt.

a couple years ago i was third or fourth grade i cant remember well but i was in class and the teacher said "wait can you feel that...?" the ground was moving i think it was a secondary wave cause the top was just moving i think.... well we really didn't feel it but we still had to do the routine go under the desk and after the quake go in the field the earthquake was only about 5 seconds that wasn't that bad but other then that it wasn't a bad experience.

I experienced an earthquake before, when i was younger. I was about 11 or 12 years old. This happened in my house when I was laying down on the floor. All of a sudden I felt this vibration coming from the ground. It had seemed like if my house was tilting moving back and forth. It wasn't a crazy earthquake but it was the first earthquake I've experienced. After that happened I thought it was pretty COOL. haha

Earthquakes occur on a regular basis in California. Over 100 faults in the state produce thousands of quakes each year. The largest fault is the San Andreas Fault, which runs for hundreds of miles up and down California.
